Spring in the mountains...

I understand the beauty of snow on the sun splashed mountain. I get it. I also understand and feel the world of life beneath the leaf layer and within the buds. I sometimes see the stoic deer or elk standing firm in the snow and wind. I even like to feel the occasional blast of Arctic wind on my reddened cheeks. I startle awake to a new blanket of snow outside the window.

I have to be cautious when I say that this winter seemed far too long and I'm done with it. Only because I was in Hawaii for about a month and anyone who knows that would be justified to treat me like an AIG bonus recipient.

But look at this photo, just outside the bedroom. Yes! Snowdrops rising as the snow itself disappears.

I'm ready.

Comments:
A very beautiful and evocative photograph. We have daffodils, crocus, forsythia, camellias, daphne, primroses and early cherry trees blooming now. I do love the springtime too.

You made it through another winter and now you get rewarded :-)

You’ve been forgiven for your month long escape from the Canadian winter. I don’t hold a grudge. (For very long.) You’re entitled to welcome any and all signs of spring with hope and enthusiasm!

I love the image of receding winter and burgeoning spring.

i don't know how elk and deer do it. i mean, no matter how thick your coat is, it's be numbingly cold in winter. bears have it right- they hibernate. although, to my knowledge, bears starve themselves in winter because they don't know how to store their nuts like squirrels do.
i'm surprised they haven't taken to clubbing baby seals for their coats.
toasty.
maybe they survive by dreaming of hawaii.
but ohhh. spring.
everybody loves spring.

no offense, but you're not quite in the same league as the AIG boys, luv. and grudges are awfully heavy things to pack around. happy spring. send some my way.

Thanks for the reminders of your previous post.

So spring comes with the lifting of the spirit as I recall your stunning vibrant colours from prior years posts to add to a first bloom below.

Best wishes

my pal Cheri says I should meet you and look at your blog--so hello Gary! from Gary
