Sam Nutt - strong name for a strong woman!

Click to see the details on the poster more clearly

My daughter and a group of local young activists put on a 10 hour music event in the park here each summer (the 3rd annual is July 30 this year). They raise money for War Child, which is a terrific organization. Dr. Samantha Nutt (Sam) is the founder and Exec. Director in Canada. She's was chosen by Maclean's Magazine (the Canadian national weekly for you foreign visitors) for their annual Honour Roll as one of "12 Canadians making a difference."

We're bringing her to Nelson on May 7th to do a public presentation at Selkirk College (and to hang out with the young people a bit).
If you're around, I'll provide the ticket!

Comments:
Aimee, me and Kim are all going to this awesome event! Do you want to have dinner with us before hand? We don't know where yet but we do know that we are always a party!

Sure is refreshing to hear of some good deeds being done. Things are kind of bleak in my neighborhood.

danamite - glad you're coming. Wish I could meet you before but I'm setting up chairs, sound systems and baked goods!

fran - loved your six things (in posting below). You're a rebel, lost now and then... but always finding your way!

Good for your daughter and her friends!

And good for Sam!

You are giving me a trickle of hope today.

Gary ~No doubt you’re tremendously proud of your daughter and the local group doing such great work. I remember that occasion last year and was very impressed with the large amount of money they raised. I hope those young folk you will “hang around “appreciate your disposition for the odd experience of fine old Scotch whisky and not just leave you with the mere froth and bubbly. I would also like to hear a story about memories from your own interesting life lived in so many different countries to which you alluded in the previous post.
Best wishes

"Alludations" Lindsay?
I bet Gary can allude about a lot.
Ah, this wasn't supposed to be about Lindsay.
So hey Gary, those girls (modest woman) do the right thing, eh?!
Why don't you have their boyfriends set up the chairs and have some "d'oeuvres and dinner" instead. You are getting too old to shuffle stuff around. The younger guard shall take over from now on.
Hope the event becomes a success!

How proud you must be of your daughter.

if there is anything that i can do to help - just tell the crew to let me know!

What a wonderful worthy cause.
You must be one proud father!

Always good to hear the positive stuff happening in the world.

Thanks Carol - I bet you always have more than a trickle of hope inside you.

Lindsay - yes, if the girls weren't all under 19, they could purchase a nice bottle of single malt in appreciation of my help!

Thanks Zee, Cheri, Beth and Mary.

Danamite - will be sure you're contacted. If you want to print a poster and put it up at work, let me know and I'll send you one.

As Johnny Mercer said:

You've got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

You've got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium
Liable to walk upon the scene

Best wishes and keep up the good work.

That sounds like a meaningful
event, and for a great cause.
And yes, I love her name too.
I've always believed people
are in some way influenced by
their names and by what people
call them. Someone named David
is going to be different than
someone named Legolas. So Sam
Nutt it is, and damn batter be.

good one Sera!

OMG! Totally unrelated to your post, but I saw you've added me to the list of blogs you watch.

Two thoughts... ABOUT TIME! =) and SO COOL. Thanks!

Just now reading sarah j clark's comment, I decided to look at your blog list
and there I was!
Curious, I looked at My blog list
and there you weren't!
But now you are!

(Sorry, I haven't kept up with things, but I'm happy that you are now on my list. Thank you for adding me to yours.)

(And thanks for your faith that I have more than a trickle of hope within. Some days I wonder... Your comment inspired me to check out my insides to see where hope resides.)

I'd love to be around, but you know I don't have the moolah. Instead, I'll wish you an excellent evening. Zooey rocks!

I meant "Zoey" of course.

I found a great deal of helpful information above!
