Amnesty to challenge Canadian security certificates in UN
Did you know that even in good old Canada, the government has the power to arrest and detain non-citizens indefinitely... without charges or a trial? There are men who have been in jail for years and have never even seen the evidence against them. (This is, of course, also practiced in the US under Homeland Security.) The government is also working to deport these people - to countries that routinely practice torture.Amnesty International is focusing some attention on Canada at upcoming UN Human Rights Committee Meetings.
