Panty Power - calling all women to action!

Susan at Phantsythat alerted me to the campaign below. It's legit folks. Time to find some panties and post, deliver or fling them at a Myanmar (Burmese) embassy near you. There's a very cool little sticker (seen here) that you can print from the Lanna Action site (to paste into a suitable spot in the undies.) Have a look and then make the sacrifice - nothing else is moving these brutish clowns to respect anyone, particularly women.

From The Independent

Activists seeking to pressure the Burmese regime are targeting the superstitions of its senior generals by asking for people around the world to send women's underwear to the junta.

In what may be a first, campaigners based in Thailand have called for supporters to "post, deliver or fling" the underwear to their nearest Burmese embassy. They believe the senior members of the junta – some known to be deeply superstitious – could be made to believe they will lose their authority should they come into contact with the lingerie.

"The Burma military regime is not only brutal but very superstitious. They believe that contact with a woman's panties or sarong can rob them of their power," says the website of the Lanna Action for Burma group, based in Chiang Mai, in northern Thailand. The group says that Burmese embassies have already received underwear from people in Thailand, Australia, Singapore and the UK.

Embassy Addresses

Pass this along - let the underwear speak!

Comments:
I support the cause (and my youngest son worked in Thailand one summer) but flinging panties? I may have a drawer full but...

(I'm smiling...thanks...)

do they have to be clean ;-)? I'm being energy conscience. . . If they're only going to throw them away. Thank you Gary for passing this on!

This is a joke right? I'd rather send newspaper and magazine articles (so they see how they are perceived by the rest of the world) or a letter or almost anything else.

First, while it may seem silly, this isn't a joke - you can check out the Lanna Action site to learn more about the people sponsoring this. It, of course, doesn't reduce the need to sign Amnesty petitions and put pressure on our governments and the UN to take action. The most effective pressure is probably to push our own governments to push China to get involved. The Olympics are a good incentive for them to act responsibly.

I've seen films on these generals and they are dolts enough to be afraid of panties - so do that too if you want.

And Kathie, I would think any condition will do!

Just wanted to stop by and thank you for commenting on my blog though I don't think I'll be sending along any panties to the cause!

Not for lack of support, but you know...

Egads!

I have some panties left by my ex-girlfriend I can use. I was going to make a Voodoo doll, but this sounds like more fun.
